U.S. Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock has expressed solidarity with the Nigerian government and its people after the attack that left over 200 natives dead in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi communities in Plateau State during Christmas Eve terror attacks.

The U.S. Senator pledges to support the Federal Government in solidarity to provide humanitarian aid to victims of Plateau killings as exhibited by the armed Fulani militias the government is yet to designate as terrorist group like its other counterparts, Boko Haram and ISWAP.

Senator Warnock made the pledge in solidarity during the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization Americas (NIDOA) condemnation of the killings of natives in the communities of Plateau.

He stated, “I will look further into this issue and seek opportunities to support humanitarian efforts, including the protection of religious freedom.”

The senator assured that when evaluating legislation related to human rights and religious freedom in Nigeria, he would look into NIDO’s recommendation on thorough investigations that are dedicated to meeting justice on the perpetrators, while Mr. Warnock re-emphasized the need to provide relief packages to the victims.

Meanwhile, the Biden-led administration is reluctant to place Nigeria on the list of countries with increasing rates of Christian persecution by Islamist extremists, as there’s an ongoing petition by NADECO against his administration.

Essentially, the U.S. designated two other entities from Nigeria as “Entities of Special Concern” — Boko Haram and ISIS-West Africa but not the Fulani Jihadist militias who are responsible for the majority of the killings of Christians in Nigeria in recent years.

The Nigerian government’s treating the symptoms and not the cause approach to governance has led to the government pledging to look into humanitarian support to the acts of terror perpetrated by the yet-to-be designated terrorist armed group, posting grave national security issues upon its citizens in Plateau State and Nigeria.
