Release me and there will be peace in South-East — Nnamdi Kanu

196

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has accused certain government officials of profiteering from the pervasive insecurity in the Southeast geopolitical zone.

Kanu made these assertions today following the denial of bail by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja.

Speaking to reporters after the court proceedings, Kanu emphasised that his release from the Department of State Services (DSS) custody would facilitate peace restoration in the Southeast region.

He alleged complicity among some government figures, suggesting they capitalise on the insecurity situation for personal gain.

Quoting Kanu directly, he stated,

I suspect that some people in government are complicit. They are making money with this insecurity. They know if Nnamdi Kanu is outside, in two minutes, this nonsense will stop.

Kanu further reiterated his commitment to peace, asserting, “Anybody involved in any form of violence in the Southeast in the name of IPOB, let me come out of this nonsense, this mess, only two minutes, I guarantee you, and there will be peace in the Southeast.”
