Polish authorities have arrested a local man, identified as Pawel K. under national privacy law, for allegedly preparing to assist in a plot to assassinate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On Thursday, the National Prosecutor’s office revealed that Pawel K. was apprehended for attempting to gather sensitive information on Rzeszow-Jasionka Airport — a critical passage for military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine — and pass it to Russian intelligence.

According to the prosecutors, the suspect was actively seeking connections with Russian operatives engaged in the Ukraine conflict and planned to provide detailed security data about critical logistics infrastructure used by international leaders and aid efforts toward Ukraine.

If found guilty, Pawel K. faces up to eight years in prison.

This arrest coincides with the detention of two men in Germany on Wednesday, also suspected of espionage and planning sabotage against United States military facilities to disrupt support for Ukraine.
