In a revealing interview on the HonestBunch Podcast, Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips, shed light on the tumultuous journey that led to his departure from EDGE Records, owned by popular rapper Reminisce.

The artist shared poignant details about his struggles within the music industry, including personal hardships and health crises.

Oladips recounted a harrowing moment during the peak of his success with the hit song ‘Lalakukulala’ when he faced dire financial difficulties, even while his music soared in popularity.

“I had a song as big as Lalakukulala, I dey hungry for house,”

Oladips highlights the stark disparity between his professional success and personal hardships. He disclosed the absence of advance payment upon signing the record deal and lamented the label’s allegedly negligent attitude towards his brand, ultimately leading to his departure.

The rapper elucidated the circumstances surrounding recent rumours of his demise, addressing speculations that it was a publicity stunt for his upcoming album.

Contrary to these claims, Oladips clarified that he had indeed been gravely ill, attributing the episode to a spiritual attack.

He disclosed being unconscious for two days during this health crisis and underscored that he was not immediately taken to a hospital.

Instead, his parents relied on traditional medical methods to revive him, shedding light on the gravity of the situation and the reliance on traditional healing practices.

Oladips emphasized that his decision to depart from EDGE Records stemmed from the label’s alleged disregard for his career trajectory despite his early success and loyal fanbase.

He admitted to initially banking on the platform and association with Reminisce but lamented the lack of substantial support and opportunities that followed.
