The Lagos State Government has warned Uber Technologies System Nigeria Limited of potential sanctions for the company’s alleged failure to adhere to essential data-sharing agreements.

The State Government stated that Uber has persistently violated established regulations, with a particular focus on the critical Application Program Interface (API) integration crucial for enhancing safety and security within the transportation sector.

A statement released by Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, on Friday, emphasized that Uber’s continued non-compliance poses a threat to maintaining a secure and regulated transportation environment in the state.

The statement stated that adhering to these standards was for the well-being of all residents of Lagos State.

Osiyemi, highlighting the gravity of the situation, stressed the need for immediate corrective action to address Uber’s non-compliance with the Data Sharing Agreement and API integration. He challenged Uber to swiftly seek resolution within the established regulatory framework, cautioning that failure to comply would result in severe sanctions in strict accordance with state laws and regulations.
