Ini Dima-Okojie, Damilola Adegbite, Eric Roberts in Skeleton Coast Trailer

Nigerian businessman and CEO of PlayNetwork Studios, Charles Okpaleke, has ignited excitement across continents by releasing the trailer for his latest masterpiece, “Skeleton Coast.” The announcement came on Twitter bearing the movie trailer with the caption, “Hello Nollywood. Hello Africa. I’m just getting started”.

Okpaleke served as one of the executive producers of this project. The director of the project, Robert Peters, made a similar announcement on Instagram. In an emotional proclamation of African unity and cultural pride, Peters declared, “AFRICA UNITE!!! The Skeleton Coast trailer is finally live! This is more than just a movie; it’s a celebration of African storytelling and Ubuntu,” on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Set against the backdrop of Namibia’s Skeleton Coast, aptly nicknamed “The Land God Made in Anger,” the film unfurls a gripping narrative. It follows the journey of a private firm accused of environmental pollution, leading to a clash of interests and morals. Tasked with a dangerous mission, a team of Nigerian researchers ventures into the heart of the wilderness in pursuit of a rare, highly radioactive element. However, their quest takes a harrowing turn when they uncover the unsettling truth about the firm’s intentions.

“Skeleton Coast” is a testament to the collaborative spirit between Nigeria’s Play Network Studios and Mondajila Studios, a formidable force in Namibia’s burgeoning film industry. Panashe Daringo served as an executive producer alongside Charles Okpaleke. Rogers Ofime and Arafat Bello-Osagie worked as co-producers.

The cast and crew combine individuals from Nollywood, Hollywood, Ghallywood, South Africa and Namibia. Among the stellar cast are Ini Dima-Okojie, Thapelo Mokoena, Tjuna Daringo, Mawuli Gavor, Cindy Mahlangu, and Damilola Adegbite. Notably, the film boasts the esteemed presence of Eric Roberts, a revered figure in both Golden Globe and Academy Award circles, adding further prestige to the production.
