FG Inaugurates Shettima's N21b Residence, Yet Prohibits Journalists
The newly Commissioned VP Residential House

On Friday, The federal government inaugurated the N21 billion, newly renovated official residence of Vice President Kashim Shettima in Abuja but barred journalists from touring it.

President Bola Tinubu, who was present at the inauguration, stated that providing suitable residence for the Vice President was not merely a matter of convenience but a symbol of respect for the office and its occupants.

The renovation came after the FCT Minister, Nyesome Wike, sought the president’s approval to give it a facelift. Despite public criticisms about the budget for the renovation, the minister continued with the project.

While naming guests who would join the president in touring the house, Eugenia Abu, the moderator of the inauguration ceremony, disclosed that the VP’s residence is private, so journalists were prohibited from covering it.

“These are the persons who are going to be accompanying Mr President into this residence. There will be no press. There will be no coverage. This is the official residence of His Excellency, the Vice President; it is a private space.

“Those who will be given the privilege to come along with him are those who have been carefully chosen. I’d like to advise that we have no press, coverage, or media,”
