According to a report by The Athletic, Chelsea Football Club has appointed Seyi Olofinjana to a critical position within their talent management team, focusing on the African continent.

The former midfielder will start immediately in the role and assume responsibility for making recommendations on recruitment throughout the continent, working closely with a newly-appointed scout dedicated to African talent.

The 56-capped Olofinjana brings experience to the Chelsea role from his playing days, most notably in England.

During his playing career, he had 147 appearances with 18 goals for Wolverhampton Wanderers from 2004 to 2008.

He also had spells with Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday and made Premier League appearances for Stoke City and Hull City.

According to The Athletic, the depth of knowledge Olofinjana possesses on African football, combined with his experience of the game in England, made him an ideal candidate for the pivotal role.

He will be charged with identifying and recommending some of the most promising young talents from within the continent of Africa, hoping to provide Chelsea FC with quality players through its recruitment pipeline.

To tighten their scouting network in Africa, based on the strategic vision of Chelsea, due to the richness of footballing talents on the continent.
