Cape Verdes National Union of Civil Aviation Pilots Issues Strike Notice

Cape Verde‘s National Union of Civil Aviation Pilots (SNPAC) announced today that it will embark on strike between 00:00 on July 24, 2024 and 23:59 hours on July 30, 2024.

The union disclosed that the strike action is due to a “backtrack on the part of the government in the materialisation of the agreements and commitments made in negotiations, carried out with the Minister of Tourism and Transport, since the suspension of the strike announced on April 23, 2024.”

Recall that the strike, announced in April, was suspended after Transportes Aéreos de Cabo Verde (TACV) pilots demanded better working conditions met with the union and the government.

Despite the strike suspension, the government has yet to fulfil its part of the agreement, and the union said it would embark on another strike action.

“Despite the various negotiations carried out since April with the Board of Directors and subsequently, chaired by the Minister of Tourism and Transport, with agreements and commitments made and registered, all the demands that were the basis for the strike notice announced in April 2024 remain unanswered”, says SNPAC.
