Comedian and skit maker Brain Jotter has paid a visit to the iconic highlife legend Mike Ejeagha, famed for his classic and viral song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo.” This meeting followed days of Brain Jotter’s public search for the veteran singer, which included a ₦2 million incentive.

Brain Jotter’s new dance content, featuring Ejeagha’s 41-year-old song, went viral recently, sparking a renewed interest in the timeless highlife tune. The viral dance challenge has gained traction across various social media platforms, prompting many Nigerian celebrities to participate, including Super Falcon’s star Asisat Oshoala, Victony and more.

On Monday evening, Brain Jotter shared an update on his Instagram page, expressing his joy at meeting Ejeagha. He posted photos from the visit and wrote, “So happy I did this. Story coming soon.”

The resurgence of “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo” has brought Ejeagha’s career back into the spotlight. The song, a melodic Igbo folk tale, narrates the story of Enyi (the elephant) and Mbe (the turtle), where the clever turtle outsmarts the strong elephant and secures a marriage with the princess by deceiving the elephant into thinking he was the king’s chief at the ofala festival. The refrain, “Enyi na aga, na anyi so gi na azu, gwo gwo gwo ngwo,” reflects the betrayal of the turtle and his triumph in leading the elephant to the king.

The viral dance challenge initiated by Brain Jotter not only revived a classic song but also highlighted the rich cultural heritage embedded in Nigerian highlife music.
