A citizen of Mali, identified as Hamza Coulibaly, was arrested Wednesday night at Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport for possession of 5.7 kilogrammes of cocaine, according to Guineenews.

The airport security officials apprehended Coulibaly as he was about to board an Air France flight.

This arrest comes days after a French woman was caught with 2.6 kg of cocaine at the same airport, according to Guineenews.

These recent drug busts highlight a growing concern that the West African coast is increasingly becoming a source and a central point for drugs heading to other continents.

Early September, a private jet with Mexican registration carrying 2,633 kilogrammes of drugs (cocaine) was seized by Guinea-Bissau’s Judicial Police at Osvaldo Vieira International Airport.
