Wike Threatens Political Crisis if Governors Attempt to Take Over Rivers PDP Structure

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has threatened to cause a political crisis if any state governors attempt to take over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in Rivers State.

Wike, the former Rivers State Governor, issued the threat on Saturday at the party’s state congress held with delegates to elect new executives in Rivers state.

The flagrant threat followed the August 23 meeting held by PDP governors who had met in Taraba State to weigh in on the political crisis surrounding Governor Simanalayi Fubara.

At the PDP secretariat in Rivers State, Wike urged the governors to distance themselves from the party’s affairs.

Let me assure you that nobody will take away the structure of PDP from us while we live. But let me tell people, I hear some governors say they will take over the structure and give back to somebody,” he stated.

I pity those governors because I will put fire in their states. When God has given you peace, you say you don’t want peace – anything you see you take.

“Because I heard they got some money from a signature bonus, and so their heads are getting big that you will put a hand in my state. Prepare because I have the capacity to also do the same thing in your own state.

“Whether you are from Bauchi, I don’t give a damn, whichever state you are from, as far as I know, that you are trying to put yourself in Rivers State, your hand will get burnt, and you will never sleep in your state,” Wike threatened.

Meanwhile, Rivers PDP has been in a crisis following the fallout between Wike and his predecessor, Fubara, who had made it public to probe Wike’s administration as former governor.
