Anya Taylor-Joy To Lead Netflix’s ‘How To Kill Your Family’ Series Adaptation

Netflix has officially announced that Anya Taylor-Joy will star in its upcoming series, an adaptation of Bella Mackie’s bestselling novel “How to Kill Your Family”. The announcement was made on Wednesday at the Edinburgh TV Festival, revealing that the series will consist of eight episodes.

Taylor-Joy, who gained international recognition through her role in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, is set to portray Grace Bernard, the series’ lead character. Grace is a young woman with a complicated and troubled family history. Born out of an affair, Grace’s father, Simon Artemis, is a billionaire with a relentless ambition to climb the social ladder. Yet, he dismisses any memory of Grace and her mother, leaving them to survive independently. After her mother’s death and a harsh rejection from her father’s family, Grace channels her grief and anger into a chillingly methodical plan: to eliminate her estranged relatives one by one, each in a darkly creative manner.

Anya Taylor-Joy expressed her excitement about the project, sharing with Netflix, “As soon as I turned the last page, I knew I had to be a part of bringing this story to life.” Bella Mackie, the novel’s author, commented on the casting, saying, “It’s been thrilling to watch the characters I wrote take on new life under this magnificent creative team. Anya is the perfect fit to play Grace: I often think she understands her better than I do.”

The adaptation is highly anticipated, as fans of both Taylor-Joy and Mackie’s novel eagerly await the merging of the actress’s talent with the darkly humorous and suspenseful narrative of How to Kill Your Family.
