Protesters marched through the streets of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, on Thursday, joining the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.

Armed with placards and banners, the protesters converged and commenced their procession at the Police Roundabout, a few metres away from the Government House.

According to Premium Times live reports, the protesters, mainly youths, chanted in Hausa, saying, “Tinubu-Shettima bamuyi,” which means, “We don’t want Tinubu and Shettima.”

They also demanded President Bola Tinubu return the fuel subsidy as part of the measures to end the ongoing hardship in the country.

“Tinubu, end hunger,’ ‘Tinubu, return fuel subsidy,” they chanted.

Shops at the Jalingo market and Hammaruwa Road were reported closed. Vehicular movements were also reported scanty.

The protests, dubbed #EndBadGovernance, which kicked off nationwide today, August 1, aim to address the hardship and hunger faced by the citizens and to hold the government accountable.

The protests, which started as a peaceful one, have, however, reportedly turned violent in some states, including Abuja and Kaduna, as security personnel crackdown on the peaceful protester.
