Bolanle Austen-Peters’ House of Ga’a Ranks In Netflix’s Global Top 10 for Non-English Films

Bolanle Austen-Peters’ film “House of Ga’a” has achieved a significant milestone by securing a spot in Netflix’s Global Top 10 chart for non-English language films. The movie, set in the 18th-century Oyo Empire, follows a power-hungry political figure who commits a series of brutal betrayals to rise above the kings he serves.

This comes hot after Austen-Peters produced and directed a biopic on the legendary activist, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti. It hit the cinemas on 17th May 2024 and is available on Prime video now.

The recognition of House of Ga’a underscores Austen-Peters’ growing influence in the film industry, following her acclaimed works such as “Collision Course” “Man of God” and “Bling Lagosians” including a couple of stage plays. The film, which has garnered over 3.4 million views within just five days of release, continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

Austen-Peters took to Instagram to share the news of House of Ga’a’s new success. She expressed her appreciation for the film’s success, highlighting its achievement of being the top film in Nigeria and ranking seventh globally in Netflix’s non-English category. She credited the accomplishment to the support of her audience and encouraged continued support for African stories.

House of Ga’a,” written by Tunde Babalola and co-produced with Joseph Umoibom, features a diverse and impressive cast including Femi Branch, Funke Akindele, and Toyin Abraham, among others.
