Southern Borno Women Supports Ndume, Vows to Stage Naked Protest at National Assembly

Women’s groups and supporters, including Wards and some Units Coordinators of Southern Borno Senatorial District, have vowed to stage a peaceful naked protest at the National Assembly.

The controversy began when Senator Ndume, in an Arise TV interview, stated that the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is characterised by ‘hunger and insecurity.’

In reaction, the All Progressive Congress (APC) and its Senate Caucus relieved Ndume of his positions as the Chief Whip and Vice-Chair of the Senate Committee on Appropriation.

Days ago, hundreds of women in a coalition, Women Groups, Supporters and Coordinators from all the 101 Wards in the nine Local Government Areas of Southern Borno, stormed Ndume’s residence at Maiduguri.

They declared their total support for Ndume and threatened to mobilise peaceful naked protest at the National Assembly if the event calls for it.

According to Mrs. Mada Musa of Damboa, who spoke during the visit, condemned the removal of Ndume

It is unfortunate that Ndume, who granted an interview with Arise TV recently echoed the voices and feelings of the masses over severe hunger and insecurity which have dominated the present administration, will be punished or relinquished his position at the Red Chamber.

We elected Senator Ndume to go and represent Southern Borno people, and by extension, Borno and Nigeria as a whole irrespective of political affiliations; therefore, we enjoined our Senator who is passionate about the plights of average Nigerians to please go back to Media Houses and add that, apart from hunger and insecurity in the land, there are corruption, unemployment and lost of hope due to bad policies of the present administration, she continued.

The Ward Coordinators, led by Pastor Moni Mushari, maintained their stance and Rallying Support for Ndume.

He appreciated the efforts of Gov. Babagana Zulum and credited Ndume with grassroots democracy and development.

Ndume thanked the solidarity visit and charged his supporters to be calm and law-abiding.

He asked them to go into farming and business as long-term solutions to the present economic situation in the country.

Ndume, however, appreciated the recent approval of a N70,000 minimum wage by President Tinubu but noted that the amount is still insufficient to take care of basic living expenses.
