In a statement released on Friday by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Command has announced the deployment of 4,200 police officers to ensure peace and order during the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1.

The Lagos State Police Command has said it cannot identify the nine allegedly killed suspected kidnappers in the Mushin area on July 4, FIJ has reported.

According to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, although guns and ammunition were recovered from the suspects, identifying them by names is entirely of no necessary importance.

According to the Foundation for Investigative Journalism, FIJ, Hundeyin evaded any direct questions. He continued to be silent despite several calls and text messages made to get him to talk.

Aside from this, the police said two of the suspected kidnappers escaped into thin air during the encounter with gunshot wounds, another layer of mystery into the case.

The kidnappers who were caught unawares would not give up easily as they engaged the police officers in a shoot-out. They of course bowed to the superior fire power of the police, the police had noted in a statement earlier.
