The Ghanaian Auditor-General’s report for 2022 has revealed that the sum of GH¢831,776 from the sale of forms for selecting caterers for the Ghana School Feeding Programme during the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 academic years was unaccounted for.

The report stated that 21,880 application forms were sold at GH¢50 each, totalling GH¢1,094,000.00, but only GH¢262,224 was recovered.

The audit, covering from 2017 to 2022, noted that efforts by the national coordinator to retrieve the missing funds were unsuccessful.

According to the report, “the MMDCEs (Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives) sold 21,880 application forms at GH¢50 each and realised a total of GH¢1,094,000.00 from the sale.

“However, the NS recovered GH¢262,224.00. The remaining amount of GH¢831,776.00 was still outstanding at the time of the audit.”

Despite the national coordinator seeking help from the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development (MLGD&RD) to recover the funds, only 6 out of 225 MMDCEs had responded by the audit’s completion.
