Popular Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku, stormed the streets today to stage a one-man protest on the precarious situation of hunger in Nigeria.

In a viral video on X, Anuku was seen holding a flag with the words “Hunger dey ooo,” which translates from Nigerian Pidgin English as “Hunger is real.”

His protest resonates with so many Nigerians because it gives voice to those plagued by food insecurity. Anuku is protested singly, so millions of Nigerians will see the hard life they go through daily.

The veteran actor tried using his popularity to draw attention to this mainstream issue, hoping for discussions and subsequent actions that would mean a solution.

The video of the demonstration by Anuku quickly went viral on social media, as many Nigerians took to the platform to react in support of his gesture and share their experiences during this trying time of the food crisis.

With the biting economic challenges in Nigeria, the issue of hunger has become very critical.
