Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in Group D of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with Benin Republic, Libya and Rwanda.

The draw, which took place today in Johannesburg, South Africa, has given Nigeria a tough quest for qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations from December 2025 to January 2026 in Morocco.

The upcoming clash of the ‘coachless’ Super Eagles with Benin Republic, under former Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr, comes after a surprising 2-1 defeat in the previous month when both clashed in a World Cup qualifier.

Also in the group, Rwanda, with seven points, stands foremost among Group C of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

The pressure on the Super Eagles team continues to mount, as besides aiming to improve their standing in the group, qualification for both the World Cup and the AFCON hangs in the balance for the Nigerians.

The 2025 AFCON qualifying tournament kicks off in September and concludes in November, with the following matchdays:

Matchday 1 and 2: September 2nd – 10th
Matchday 3 and 4: October 7th – 15th
Matchday 5 and 6: November 11th – 15th
