Meta Facebook Monetisation Ghana Nigeria Creators

Meta Platforms Inc., more commonly known as Meta, has announced that content creators in Nigeria and Ghana can now earn money on Facebook through two newly introduced monetisation features. This is effective from July 1, 2024.

The features, In-Stream Ads on Facebook and Facebook Ads on Reels, will reportedly allow creators to earn revenue by producing original videos and getting community engagement.

Meta explained that these features are accessible to eligible creators in both countries, with support in over 30 languages globally.

To qualify, creators must adhere to Facebook’s Partner Monetisation Policies and Content Monetisation Policies and be at least 18 years old. Additionally, for in-stream ads, creators must have a minimum of 5,000 followers.

Moon Baz, Global Partnerships Lead for Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey at Meta, commented on the rollout: “This expansion will empower eligible creators in the vibrant creative industry across Nigeria and Ghana to earn money while setting the bar high for creativity across the world and making Meta’s family of apps the one-stop-shop for all creators.”

This monetisation initiative follows a visit by Meta’s President of Global Affairs, Sir Nick Clegg, to Nigeria earlier this year.

During the visit, Clegg met with Nigerian authorities and announced plans to introduce monetisation features for Nigerian creators on Facebook and Instagram by June 2024.

In a similar development today, Meta was hit with antitrust accusations from the European Union for its ad-supported subscription model.
