The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that it has rescued the 3 abducted Fouani brothers, their assistant, and a boat captain.

It will be recalled that on June 14, three brothers, identified as Abbas Fouani, Youssef Fouani, and Amtal Fouani, were reportedly abducted around 6:00 p.m. in Lagos.

The three brothers who oversee Fouani Nigeria Ltd., which distributes LG, Hisense, and Maxi products across Nigeria, were reportedly abducted by unidentified assailants while returning from their Apapa factory premises by boat.

On Monday, the Police reportedly said it was working “tirelessly” to ensure their rescue.

Confirming their release via a Whatsapp chat on Tuesday, the Lagos Police Spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the rescue was a joint operation between the Lagos Marine Police and the Navy.

They were rescued late last night in Orugbo Iddo. Our marine police, with the support of the Nigerian Navy, brought them to shore,” Hundeyin said.

“After that, our tactical team in the area took them home on Banana Island in the early hours of today.

“Five of them, three Lebanese, their assistant, and the boat captain,” he added.

Meanwhile, there are allegations that $1.2 million was paid in ransom before the Fouani brother’s rescue, but Hundeyin said he is unaware of any ransom payment.

In response, he said, “We are not aware of any ransom payment. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.”
