President Tinubu Orders Security Crackdown on Killers of Soldiers, Sit-at-Home Enforcers in Southeast

President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible for the recent killing of five soldiers in Aba, Abia State, as well as individuals promoting sit-at-home orders in the Southeast region.

The President made it clear that the federal government will not tolerate attacks on state agents and emphasised the capacity of the armed forces to neutralise violent non-state actors.

Speaking from the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu condemned the killings and labelled the sit-at-home promoters as engaging in treasonable activities.

He stated, “On no account should anyone, under any guise, have the audacity to kill agents of state.”

Tinubu assured Nigerians that the federal government is determined to ensure the safety of its citizens and the protection of its military personnel.

“The federal government will come down heavily against those who have made it a habit to attack the officers and men of our armed forces needlessly,” he declared.

The President urged security agencies not only to identify and capture the masterminds behind the Aba attack but also to take action against those enforcing the sit-at-home orders.

I want to make it clear that the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the armed forces can crush violent non-state actors, making our communities unsafe, he affirmed.

Highlighting the importance of restraint by security forces, Tinubu warned that this should not be seen as a sign of weakness.

“The fact that the security forces are exercising necessary restraints should not be mistaken for weakness,” he said.

We are working to build a peaceful and harmonious society, but nobody should be under any illusion that the government will not act appropriately when the lives of our officers and men are wantonly taken.

Recall the Nigerian Army also vowed to impose overwhelming military pressure on the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in response to the killing of five soldiers at a checkpoint in Aba, Abia State.

In the same instance, Abia State Governor Alex Otti has placed a N25 million bounty on the perpetrators who killed soldiers in Aba during a sit-at-home observation, marking the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Day.
