Chelsea FC are on the verge of securing a deal to sign defender Tosin Adarabioyo, with negotiations reportedly in their final stages.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have emerged as the clear favourites to acquire the Fulham centre-back despite strong interest from Newcastle United.

Adarabioyo, 26, has been a critical figure for Fulham since joining Manchester City in 2020. His performances in the Premier League have caught the attention of several top clubs, leading to a competitive race for his signature.

Newcastle have been working on a deal for Adarabioyo for weeks, but Chelsea’s late push seems to have tipped the scales in their favour.

If the deal is finalised, Adarabioyo would become the first signing for Chelsea’s incoming manager, Enzo Maresca.

Maresca, a former assistant coach at Manchester City, is familiar with Adarabioyo’s capabilities and is keen to strengthen Chelsea’s defensive options ahead of the new season.

Tosin Adarabioyo’s Background

Born in Manchester, Adarabioyo joined Manchester City’s academy at five. He progressed through the ranks and made his senior debut for the club in 2016.

Despite showing promise, first-team opportunities were limited at City, leading to loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and Blackburn Rovers.

In October 2020, Adarabioyo moved to Fulham, where he quickly established himself as a reliable and commanding presence in defence.

His physicality, composure on the ball, and aerial ability have been crucial for Fulham, helping them achieve stability in the Premier League.

Adarabioyo has also represented England at various youth levels, further showcasing his potential and versatility as a defender.

His impending move to Chelsea represents a significant step in his career, providing an opportunity to compete at the highest levels of club football.
