The Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal (CCPT) in Abuja has ordered Multi-choice Nigeria Limited to halt its plans to increase tariffs and prices for its products and services starting May 1.

The tribunal, led by Saratu Shafii, issued this temporary order after Festus Onifade’s legal team requested it.

Multi-choice is barred from raising prices until a further decision is made after a hearing on May 7. This decision came after Onifade filed a complaint against Multi-choice and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC)  on April 29.

The complaint sought to prevent Multi-choice from raising prices and taking any actions that could harm consumer rights until resolved.

Multi-choice had previously increased its prices on April 1, 2022.
