Despite Tinubu’s order, ransom was paid to Terrorists for the release of Kidnapped pupils - Commodore Kunle Olawunmi

The former Commandant of the Defence Intelligence College, Commodore Kunle Olawunmi, has stated that the release of some of the 287 abducted schoolchildren in Kaduna could only occur after terrorists had been paid a ransom.

Commodore Olawunmi made this known during a Monday interview on AriseTV. He insisted that despite President Tinubu’s directive that no money would be given to the terrorists, they were paid to secure the release of the children.

He further added that the negotiation ought to be done professionally, not to give room for non-governmental personnel posing as terrorist negotiators.

He said that Gumi, as a terrorist negotiator, is harassing Tinubu for not appointing an official terrorist negotiator to meet international standards.

Those are not negotiators, most are doing so for themselves and the terrorists, he stated.

Meanwhile, speculations have risen about the number of the rescued children and the death of one of the teachers, while security agencies and the Kaduna state government are yet to give details of the rescue as parents remained silent.
