Just In — A group of Bayelsa women has taken to the street, occupying the Zarama Axis of Bayelsa East-West Road to protest against the Fulani herdsmen ravaging their farmlands.

In a video circulating on social media, the protest follows the yet-to-be-designated terrorists known as Fulani Herdsmen, who have taken over the farmland of residents and allegedly perpetuated some silent killings the Bayelsa couldn’t bear any more.

At the demonstration ground, while chanting “Na My Area Be This Oh, Fire Me Make I Fire You”, a protestant placard also reads, “Fulani Herdsmen Must Leave our Bush (farmlands).

Meanwhile, Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri had earlier signed into law an anti-grazing policy that disallows herders to move within Bayelsa State with their cattle or risk prosecution.

The Bayelsa women’s protest marks the ongoing insecurities caused by the Fulani Herdsmen armed with AK-47s in case of non-compliance with farmers in the State.
