UN WebTV reschedules South Africa v. Israel broadcast

The United Nations Web TV has rescheduled its live broadcasting of the South Africa v. Israel ruling at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) situated at the Peace Palace in The Hague.

In a post on X, the ICJ released on Thursday a press release on its 1 PM scheduled ruling order on the request for the indication of provisional measures submitted by South Africa in its case against Israel.

The UN Web TV had scheduled 1 pm on Thursday for the time of the hearing for the Holocaust Remembrance. But following WestAfricaWeekly‘s story, the United Nations Web TV released a reschedule to cover the ICJ hearing of South Africa v. Israel at 12:30 PM.

The live broadcast as announced will be streamed for global reach. While the world can watch the hearing on UN Web TV, concerned citizens have taken to social to ensure not only broadcasting the ICJ ruling on the case but also to be seen that justice is delivered.

Meanwhile, following a leaked audio, Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, had been accused by Qatar of “deliberately obstructing Gaza’s mediation efforts” for cease fire.

“If the reported remarks are found to be true, the Israeli PM would only be obstructing and undermining the mediation process, for reasons that appear to serve his political career instead of prioritizing saving innocent lives, including Israeli hostages,” Ansari wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Netanyahu’s administration is yet to issue a response to the leaked recording, which threatens to further complicate the already difficult negotiations on aid, a truce, and the release of over 130 captives said to still be in custody in the Gaza Strip.
