In Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, citizens have taken to the streets in protest following the Supreme Court’s verdict confirming Abdullahi Sule of All Progressive Congress (APC) as the winner of the governorship election.

The demonstrations have led to a complete blockade of the Lafia-Jos Road, with protesters burning tires in front of the state secretariat of the ruling party, causing major disruptions in the city.

Motorists have been compelled to seek alternative routes within Lafia, navigating through the chaos created by the impassable Lafia-Jos Road. The demonstration has also prompted the closure of various businesses, shops, and schools in the Lafia metropolis as the unrest unfolds.

The Supreme Court’s ruling, affirming Governor Abdullahi Sule’s electoral success, triggered a surge in discontent among certain sections of the populace, culminating in the mass protests witnessed today.

Demonstrators, wielding placards and chanting slogans, expressed their dissatisfaction with the court’s decision and voiced their grievances against the governor’s administration.

Security forces have been deployed to the affected areas to restore order and prevent further escalation of the situation.

Authorities are closely monitoring the protests, ensuring that the rights of citizens are respected while maintaining public safety. Despite the security presence, sporadic incidents of violence have been reported.
