Pathfinder Staff Caught Smuggling medication into Traveller’s Luggage

392

A staff of Pathfinder International, an aviation security company, has been caught trying to smuggle a medication into a traveler’s luggage at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The medication was later confirmed to be Glucosamine Chondroitin, which is not a prohibited drug in Nigeria.

In a video that circulated on X in the late hours of Thursday, January 18, a tall man was seen slapping a Pathfinder International staff while asking the latter the contents of what he tried putting into his bag (the traveller’s luggage). Some tweets had wrongly alleged the staff to be a member of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which turned out to be false.

Reacting to the video, a verified X user, @omofiolakemii, said, “This is how innocent people get framed for crimes they didn’t commit. Only God knows how many individuals have become victims of such injustice.”

Another verified X user, @Brizzy_ray, said, “Omo! This is wickedness of the highest order! What if he was caught in an Asian country?? ????”

The staff has since been suspended by Pathfinder International. In a statement released by the company, it explained that the suspended staff’s intention was to assist “a family relation in sending his personal medication to Accra.” The company added that investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
