Plateau Massacre: The Incessant Killing That Comes With a Warning Letter

In a time of yuletide, the Plateau people witnessed a horrible event of terror, leaving over 190 dead, many injured and displaced as they fled for safety. The Plateau Massacre, however, is not the first. It’s a reoccurring terror attack.

The recent attack, though well-orchestrated as it comes with a warning letter delivered by some anonymous angel of death, its funding remains an alleged case of backing by some unidentified personnel in public offices with no perpetrators apprehended yet.

This horrific massacre has made the Deputy of National Publicity Secretary of Middle Belt Forum, Dr. Stanley Kavwam, utterly express that there’s a letter to the effect of the attacks that are ravaging the communities in Jos. While the attack is still ongoing, the indigenous people of Mangu LGA, among its survivors, are calling for government intervention and an end to playing politics on addressing the cause of unsettling indigenes for others to settle.

However, it is worth pointing out that the attack that happened not too far back in July, which left 12 dead and six houses razed down, influenced the decision to move the Operation Safe Haven of the Nigerian Air Force base to the Mangu local community, to work with local authorities while neutralizing the situation. Yet, the massacre never stops.

MBF Deputy National Publicity, Secretary Stanley Kavwam disclosed in an interview on Arise TV, said the terrorists were planning to launch another attack on the Pushit community on December 29 (today), disclosing that anonymous persons dropped letters of previous attacks on Mangu LGA.

This crisis is a national security concern as it poses a grave security concern and failure of the government to fulfil Section 14(B) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria (as amended), which stipulates that ” The welfare and security of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”

The President of Nigeria has so far directed the intensification of security outfits to the affected communities. Yet, the possibility of another attack planned to hit the Pushit Community today is scary, especially for the survivors of the aftermath of Black Christmas as they fear re-attack.
Meanwhile, the Intelligence Community, Minister of Information and National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mohammed Idris, said, “We’re working to scale up intelligence gathering while commiserating with the families with survivors.
